Second Stage Round 3: Widzew - Basket ROW 74-76

Third-ranked Widzew (4-17) used its home court advantage to challenge Basket ROW (11-10) in Lodz. The visitors from Rybnik managed to secure only two-point victory 76-74. However their fans expected easier game. The guests were ahead by 4 points but lost the second period ending it with a 6-point deficit before their 20-12 run, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American forward Markel Walker (185-90, college: UCLA, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Rebecca Harris (176-86, college: Illinois) helped adding 21 points and 7 rebounds. Four Basket ROW players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international Aleksandra Pawlak (189-84) with 23 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Sarah Boothe (195-90, college: Stanford) scored 9 points and 12 rebounds. Basket ROW will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Widzew will play again on the road against Basket ROW in Rybnik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
