Regular Season Round 20: Sallen - Solna Vikings 80-54
Date: February 1, 2014
There was no surprise in Uppsala where 7th ranked Solna Vikings (4-12) were crushed by third ranked Sallen (12-4) 80-54. The game without a history. Sallen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Solna Vikings' 32. They outrebounded Solna Vikings 37-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. Sallen players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Solna Vikings' players. The winners were led by American point guard Adrianne Ross (173-84, college: TCU, agency: Merit Management Group) who scored that evening 17 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international center Katarina Andersson (191-83) supported her with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Sallen players scored in double figures. Even 25 points by American guard Amber Stokes (178-90, college: Ohio St.) did not help to save the game for Solna Vikings. Her fellow American import forward Brandi Brown (180-92, college: Youngstown St.) added 13 points and 13 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sallen maintains third position with 12-4 record having just two points less than leader Norrkoping. Solna Vikings lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
