Regular Season Round 12: Promete - Leganes 77-63

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Leganes (4-8) lost to third ranked Promete (9-3) in Logrono 63-77 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Promete. Leganes was better in fourth quarter 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Leganes 36-16 including a 25-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Cameroonian Amina Njonkou (185-88, college: Arizona) who led her team to a victory with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Paula Estebas (175-93) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Four Promete players scored in double figures. Promete's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Marta Perez (172-89) replied with 15 points and Dominican guard Yohanna Morton (172-87, college: Robert Morris) added 14 points in the effort for Leganes. Promete have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group B with 9-3 record having just two points less than leader Gernika. Loser Leganes dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. Promete will face CREF Hola (#4) in Madrid in the next round. Leganes will play at home against the league's second-placed Alcobendas (#2) and hope to win that game.
