Liffey Celtics can celebrate finally their first win this season after 12 consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Meteors (1-11) 44-41 on Saturday. Liffey Celtics held Meteors to an opponent 22.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 29.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Liffey Celtics forced 19 Meteors turnovers. Aine O'Connor stepped up and scored 9 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and Spanish Irene Sanchez chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side Beth Meany (168-90) responded with 14 points and guard Jade Daly (-91) scored 4 points and 13 rebounds. Meteors' coach Nabil Murad tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Liffey Celtics maintains ninth place with 1-12 record. Liffey Celtics will meet higher ranked Brunell (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
