LF2 top team - Gernika (11-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat eighth ranked Tenerife (4-8) 75-59. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 42-22 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The winners were led by American center Britany Miller (193-87, college: Florida St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Judith Monasterio (170-84) supported her with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 18 points and 6 assists by point guard Laura Fernandez (172-89) did not help to save the game for Tenerife. Power forward Laura Bejarano (182-82) added 9 points. Tenerife's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Gernika maintains first position in Group B with 11-1 record. Loser Tenerife keeps the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with IF Air Europa and Leganes. Gernika will meet at home Barca CBS (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Tenerife will play against IF Air Europa (#9) in S'Arenal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
