Regular Season Round 27: Kumamoto V. - Toyota Alvark 65-108

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Toyota Alvark (22-8) crushed on the road 6th ranked Kumamoto V. (5-24) 108-65 on Saturday. The game without a history. Toyota Alvark led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Kumamoto V.'s 24. Toyota Alvark forced 19 Kumamoto V. turnovers and outrebounded them 42-25 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kumamoto V. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated also this game. It was a good game for forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Guard Lamont Jones (183, college: Iona) answered with 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Kumamoto V.Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toyota Alvark have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 22-8 record having just two points less than leader Aishin SH. Kumamoto V. lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with 24 games lost. Toyota Alvark's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo .
