Regular Season Round 27: Wakayama T. - Tochigi Brex 82-70

An interesting game for Wakayama T. (20-8) which hosted in Wakayama 4th placed Tochigi Brex (16-14). Second ranked Wakayama T. managed to get a 12-point victory 82-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tochigi Brex. The game was mostly controlled by Wakayama T.. Tochigi Brex was better in fourth quarter 28-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Tochigi Brex 41-30 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Wakayama T. players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks. The former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) helped adding 11 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Wakayama T. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) with 15 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the other American import guard Tommy Brenton (196-89, college: Stony Brook) scored 6 points and 5 rebounds. Tochigi Brex's coach Antanas Sireika rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Wakayama T. have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Wakayama T. maintains second place with 20-8 record having six points less than leader Aishin SH. Tochigi Brex at the other side dropped to the third position with 14 games lost. They share it with Mitsubishi DD. Wakayama T. will play against Hokkaido L. (#3) in Saporro in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Tochigi Brex will have a break next round.
