Regular Season Round 17: Alba Chorzow - Slask 2 Wroclaw 81-72

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Alba Chorzow (12-5) defeated at home 6th ranked Slask 2 Wroclaw (9-9) 81-72 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 54-40 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Alba Chorzow shot 27 for 44 from the free-throw line, while Slask 2 Wroclaw only scored ten points from the stripe. They outrebounded Slask 2 Wroclaw 46-33 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Slask 2 Wroclaw was plagued by 34 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Lukasz Wojcik (188-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Power forward Marcin Weselak (202-79) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. point guard Jakub Niziol (198-96) answered with 22 points and point guard Marc-Oscar Sanny (185-96) added 17 points and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) in the effort for Slask 2 Wroclaw. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Slask 2 Wroclaw's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Alba Chorzow. They moved-up to third place in Group B. Newly promoted Slask 2 Wroclaw dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Alba Chorzow will face Cieszyn (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Slask 2 Wroclaw will play against Nysa Klodzko (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
