Regular Season Round 18: Sokol Lancut - Stal Ostrow 79-63

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Sokol Lancut (11-7) defeated at home 9th ranked Stal Ostrow (8-10) 79-63. It looked good early as Stal Ostrow took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sokol Lancut had a 22-13 second period charge getting the lead and Stal Ostrow was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-79. They outrebounded Stal Ostrow 37-23 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sokol Lancut players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Power forward Maciej Klima (203-82) notched 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and guard Lukasz Pacocha (185-82, agency: Promotex) supported him with 17 points and 5 assists. Even 12 points and 6 rebounds by Adam Kaczmarzyk (198-88) did not help to save the game for Stal Ostrow. point guard Tomasz Ochonko (184-86, agency: Promotex) added 11 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stal Ostrow's coach Krzysztof Szablowski tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Sokol Lancut have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with WKK Wroclaw and Start Lublin. Stal Ostrow at the other side keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Sokol Lancut's next round opponent will be Znicz Basket (#13) in Pruszkow and are hoping to win another game. Stal Ostrow will play at home against the league's second-placed MOSiR Krosno (#2) and hope to win that game.
