Regular Season Round 38: Lechugueros - Huracanes 79-104

The game with biggest result difference took place in Leon. Local Lechugueros (9-28) were outscored by seventh ranked Huracanes (19-16) 104-79. The game was mostly controlled by Huracanes. Lechugueros was better in fourth quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Huracanes dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Lechugueros' 40. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. American swingman Cliff Tucker (198, college: Maryland) notched 19 points, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) supported him with 12 points and 10 assists. Five Huracanes players scored in double figures. Huracanes' coach Eduard Torres felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists by Senegalese center Babacar Camara (211-81, college: CS Fullerton) did not help to save the game for Lechugueros. Enrique Rangel added 15 points and 7 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the hosts. Huracanes maintains seventh position with 19-16 record. Lechugueros at the other side keep the twelfth place with 28 games lost. Huracanes' next round opponent will be higher ranked Toros (#5) in Nuevo Laredo and it may be quite challenging game. Lechugueros will play on the road against Abejas (#4) in Guanajuato and hope to win that game.
