Third-ranked Zwolle (15-6) gave a tough game to first ranked Groningen (19-4) on Saturday. Groningen managed to secure only two-point victory 80-78. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 11 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning next two quarters and won the game by 2 points. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for point guard Cashmere Wright (183-90, college: Cincinnati, agency: Three Eye Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Swingman Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) helped adding 22 points. At the losing side guard J.T. Tiller (191-88, college: Missouri) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Justin Stommes (200-88, college: E.Kentucky) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Five Zwolle players scored in double figures. Groningen have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 19-4 record. Zwolle at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Den Helder. Groningen are looking forward to face Den Helder (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Zwolle will play against M.Magixx in Nijmegen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
