Very expected game when 9th ranked Tarbes (6-10) lost at home to third ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (14-2) 79-74 on Saturday. Tarbes was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The winners were led by Mali center Djene Diawara (192-85) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Belgian center Emma Meesseman (192-93, agency: LBM Management) supported her with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 30 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her eleven free throws !!!) by Serbian Jovana Rad (187-87, agency: Josep and Nicolas) did not help to save the game for Tarbes. Guard Sylvie Gruszczynski (173-86) added 12 points and 4 assists for lost side. Villeneuve D'Ascq have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Lattes Montp. Loser Tarbes keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Villeneuve D'Ascq will meet at home Nantes Reze (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Tarbes will play against the league's second-placed Lattes Montpellier and hope to secure a win.
