Regular Season Round 13: UL Huskies - Ulster Rockets 84-56

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked UL Huskies as it allowed them to take a leadership position. UL Huskies smashed 7th ranked Ulster Rockets in Limerick 84-56. UL Huskies dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Ulster Rockets' 16. They outrebounded Ulster Rockets 63-28 including a 41-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. International center Aoife McDermott (185-91) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. Loretta Maher chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 18 rebounds. Five UL Huskies players scored in double figures. UL Huskies' coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Kerri Shields (175-90, college: Boston Coll.) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds and Brittney Waters added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with DCU Mercy. Ulster Rockets at the other side keep the seventh place with nine games lost. Ulster Rockets will play next round against strong DCU Mercy trying to get back on the winning streak. UL Huskies will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Meteors in Dublin.
