Regular Season Round 15: Zamora - Gran Canaria 65-73

Date: February 1, 2014
Not a big story in a game in Zamora where 12th ranked Zamarat (3-12) was defeated by third ranked Gran Canaria (10-5) 73-65. It looked good early as Zamarat took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gran Canaria had a 23-13 second period charge getting the lead and Zamarat was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-73. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Brittany Chambers (173-91, college: Kansas St.) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Naturalized Senegalese center Astou Ndour (198-94) accounted for 11 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Slovenian center Sandra Pirsic (197-84) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds and 7 blocks and American swingman Shameka Christon (186-82, college: Arkansas, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 17 points respectively for Zamarat in the defeat. Gran Canaria maintains third place with 10-5 record having just three points less than leader Perfumerias. Zamarat at the other side stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Gran Canaria will play against Socinsa Bembibre (#6) at home in the next round. Zamarat will play against Jopisa Burgos (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
