The game between third ranked Torpan Pojat (11-5) and fifth ranked Aanekosken (8-8) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Torpan Pojat was defeated by Aanekosken in Helsinki 102-92. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Torpan Pojat. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 102-92. Aanekosken made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Aanekosken outrebounded Torpan Pojat 40-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Brandi Davis (183-83, college: Oregon) who led her team to a victory scoring 37 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. Her fellow American import center Kenya Robinson (182-70, college: New Orleans) helped adding 17 points and 10 rebounds. Four Aanekosken players scored in double figures. At the losing side Venlakaisa Holtta (175-84) responded with 28 points and 6 rebounds and the former international power forward Niina Laaksonen (185-85) scored 23 points and 8 rebounds. Torpan Pojat's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aanekosken have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Torpan Pojat at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Aanekosken are looking forward to face HoNsU (#5) in Jyvaskyla in the next round. Torpan Pojat will play at home against TuRi and is hoping to win this game.
