Regular Season Round 24: Winnipeg - TRU 79-68
Date: February 1, 2014
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Winnipeg where one of their biggest challengers TRU (10-8) was defeated by fifth ranked Wesmen (9-9) 79-68 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 48-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Wesmen forced 23 TRU turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Megan Noonan (170) who helped to win the game recording 30 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and guard Stephanie Kleysen (178) who added 20 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Wesmen's coach Tanya McKay used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Taiysa Worsfold with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Kassie Colonna (188) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Wesmen have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Toronto Univ. and Lakehead. Loser TRU keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
