There was no surprise in Kawasaki where 7th ranked Niigata (7-11) was defeated by fifth ranked Fujitsu RW (14-4) 51-33 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Fujitsu RW. Niigata managed to win fourth quarter 10-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Niigata to just 2 points in second quarter and to 9 points in first half. Fujitsu RW held Niigata to an opponent 22.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 30.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Fujitsu RW forced 22 Niigata turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 25 on the defensive glass. The former international forward Yoko Nagi (175-82) scored 6 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) with 8 points and 6 rebounds and forward Nana Kondo (177-88) scored 2 points and 7 rebounds. Fujitsu RW moved-up to third place, which they share with Toyota A. and Denso Iris. Loser Niigata keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Fujitsu RW will meet bottom-ranked Yamanashi QB (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Niigata will play against Toyota B SR (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
