Regular Season Round 18: Start Lublin - Spojnia 64-53

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Spojnia (3-15) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Start Lublin (11-7) 64-53. The game was mostly controlled by Start Lublin. Spojnia was better in third quarter 20-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Start Lublin won last quarter 21-11. It was a great shooting night for Start Lublin especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Patryk Pelka (202-89) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Grzegorz Mordzak (182-77) supported him with 15 points and 7 assists. Even 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by swingman Jerzy Koszuta (192-82, agency: Promotex) did not help to save the game for Spojnia. Center Lukasz Kwiatkowski (207-79) added 4 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Start Lublin moved-up to fifth place, which they share with WKK Wroclaw and Sokol Lancut. Spojnia lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Start Lublin's next round opponent will be AZS PP (#12) in Poznan and are hoping to win another game. Spojnia will play on the road against Wilki Morskie in Szczecin and hope to win that game.
