Regular Season Round 24: Cape Breton - Memorial 59-61

A very interesting game took place in Sydney. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Cape Breton (7-8) to fifth ranked Memorial (6-8) 61-59 on Saturday evening. Cape Breton cut a 14-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. Memorial forced 25 Cape Breton turnovers. It was a good game for forward Sandra Amoah (175) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Kelia Pond (175) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward Alison Keough (186-95) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks and forward Colleen Keane (175) added 7 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Cape Breton. Despite that victory Memorial went down to sixth position due to points difference. Cape Breton at the other side dropped to the fifth place with eight games lost. Memorial will have a break next round. Cape Breton will play at home against St.Francis X. (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
