Regular Season Round 24: Brock - Laurier 48-68

Date: February 1, 2014
Not a big story in a game in Catharines where 4th ranked Brock (12-7) was rolled over by second ranked Laurier (14-4) 68-48 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Laurier. Brock was better in second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Brock's 26. They outrebounded Brock 44-31 including 31 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Lee Anna Osei (157, college: Trinity Valley JC) who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 6 assists and guard Samantha Jacobs (178) who added 6 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Nicole Rosenkranz (185) with 10 points and 9 rebounds and forward Samantha Dejong (183) scored 7 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Laurier keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Western and UFV. Loser Brock keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Laurier will have a break next round. Brock will play on the road against McMaster (#5) in Hamilton and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
