Regular Season Round 28: Tsukuba R. - Toshiba BT 78-97

NBL top team - Toshiba Thunders (26-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Tsukuba R. (6-25) 97-78. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Tsukuba R. was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toshiba Thunders made 23-of-30 charity shots (76.7 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) supported him with 12 points and 4 assists. Even 15 points and 6 rebounds by point guard Kazuyuki Nakagawa (180-82) did not help to save the game for Tsukuba R.. American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) added 7 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Four Tsukuba R. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toshiba Thunders maintains first position with 26-4 record. Tsukuba R. lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth place with 25 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tsukuba R. will play on the road against Tochigi Brex (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
