Regular Season Round 12: Barca CBS - Segle XXI 46-74

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Segle XXI (7-5) outplayed 12th ranked Barca CBS (2-10) in Barcelona 74-46 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-46. Segle XXI dominated on the defensive end, holding Barca CBS to just 7 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Barca CBS's 22. It was a good game for guard Angela Salvadores (178-97) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Ana Calvo (183-96) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Five Segle XXI players scored in double figures. Center Claudia Guri (189-95) replied with 9 points and 10 rebounds and Helena Esteve (-82) added 13 points in the effort for Barca CBS. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Segle XXI maintains fifth position in Group B with 7-5 record. Newly promoted Barca CBS keeps the twelfth place with ten games lost. Segle XXI will face Dist.Olimpico (#6) in Madrid in the next round. Barca CBS will play on the road against the league's leader Gernika (#1) and hope to win that game.
