Regular Season Round 28: Aishin SH - Hitachi SR 87-83

NBL top team - Aishin Sea Horses (28-3) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat sixth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (8-23) in Kariya 87-83. Hitachi Sunrockers trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 31-20 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 83-87 at the end of the game. International swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) fired 33 points (!!!) (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for the winners. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. The former international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) added 17 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first position with 28-3 record. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers dropped to the fifth place with 23 games lost. They share the position with Chiba Jets. Aishin Sea Horses will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Hyogo S. (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
