Winner League top team - Hapoel Jerusalem (14-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (9-8) 106-91. Ironi Nes-Ziona was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 59-37 second half run of Hapoel Jerusalem. They made 26-of-31 charity shots (83.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Ironi Nes-Ziona turnovers. Hapoel Jerusalem shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 72.7 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Ironi Nes-Ziona was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Yotam Halperin (196-84) stepped up and scored 29 points and 9 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and American point guard Derwin Kitchen (193-86, college: Florida St.) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Hapoel Jerusalem's coach Brad Greenberg allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Diamon Simpson (201-87, college: St.Mary's, CA) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Tyler Honeycutt (203-90, college: UCLA) scored 18 points. Five Hapoel Jerusalem and four Ironi Nes-Ziona players scored in double figures. The victory was the twelfth consecutive win for Hapoel Jerusalem. They maintain first place with 14-3 record. Newly promoted Ironi Nes-Ziona keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Hapoel Eilat. Hapoel Jerusalem will play against Galil Gilboa (#8) in Rosh Pina in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play at home against GreenTops Netanya and hopes to get back on the winning track.
