Regular Season Round 34: Oita H.Devils - Shinshu BW 67-70

Fourth-ranked Oita Heat Devils (14-16) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Shinshu BW (21-7) on Sunday. The visitors from Nagano managed to secure only three-point victory 70-67. However their fans expected easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Oita Heat Devils won third quarter 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) scored 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Shinshu BW's coach Ryuji Kawai used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American swingman Gabriel McCulley (200-89, college: UTEP) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and guard Hiroki Oshiro (172-88) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shinshu BW have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Oita Heat Devils lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Shiga L-Stars. Shinshu BW will meet at home league's leader Akita Happinets in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Oita Heat Devils will play against Hamamatsu Phoenix in Mikawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
