Regular Season Round 19: Chanson V-M - JX Sunflowers 59-77

An interesting game for JX Sunflowers (18-1) which played road game in Shizuoka against their biggest opponent Chanson V-M (15-4). First ranked JX Sunflowers had an easy win 77-59. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Chanson V-M managed to win fourth quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 26 personal fouls committed by Chanson V-M helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Aya Okamoto (161-91) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Forward Sanae Motokawa (175-92) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and guard Minaho Miyoshi (167-93) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Chanson V-M. Chanson V-M's coach Isao Kimura rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. JX Sunflowers have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-1 record. Chanson V-M at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. JX Sunflowers are looking forward to face Denso Iris (#3) in Kariya in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Chanson V-M will play on the road against Hitachi Cougars in Hitachinaka and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
