Regular Season Round 19: Niigata - Toyota B SR 48-60

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Niigata (7-12) lost to eighth ranked Toyota B SR (7-12) in Tokyo 48-60. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota B SR. Niigata was better in third quarter 10-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Niigata 39-28 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for power forward Sari Osabe (174-87) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Mao Okada (166-88) helped adding 19 points. At the losing side forward Nana Kondo (177-88) responded with 9 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) scored 15 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Toyota B SR. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Niigata. Toyota B SR will play against Ebara Vickies (#11) in Tokyo in the next round. Niigata will play on the road against Aishin Wings (#9) in Anjo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
