Regular Season Round 34: Takamatsu FA - Akita NH 75-77

Fifth-ranked Takamatsu FA (13-17) made lots of trouble for first ranked Akita Happinets (28-4) on Sunday. The visitors from Akita managed to secure only two-point victory 77-75. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 22-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Akita Happinets made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Takamatsu FA outrebounded Akita Happinets 50-26 including a 21-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) fired 26 points and 9 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. American center Chas McFarland (213-86, college: Wake Forest) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. American power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks and his fellow American import swingman Dexter Lyons (198-81, college: Cent.Florida, agency: I.D.S. Law) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Takamatsu FA's coach Kenzo Maeda rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Akita Happinets have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 28-4 record. Takamatsu FA lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Osaka Evessa and Fukuoka Rizing. Akita Happinets are looking forward to face Shinshu BW (#3) in Nagano in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Takamatsu FA will play on the road against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
