Regular Season Round 1: Marinos - Panteras 84-73
Date: February 3, 2014
No shocking result in a game in Puerto La Cruz where Marinos (2-0) won against Panteras (0-2) 84-73 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Marinos. Panteras was better in third quarter 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American-Qatari guard Trey Johnson (196-84, college: Jackson St., agency: Priority Sports) stepped up and scored 21 points for the winners and the former international forward Jesus Urbina (201-84, college: George Mason) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Marinos players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard R.L. Horton (182-89, college: S.Mississippi) responded with 30 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Juan Herrera (197-81) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Marinos will face Guaiqueries (#7) in Porlamar in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
