Regular Season Round 10: MIA Academy - Maccabi Tbilisi 137-56

Bottom-ranked Maccabi Tbilisi is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their ninth consecutive match to sixth ranked MIA (5-4) 137-56. The game without a history. MIA led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Maccabi Tbilisi to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 59.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Maccabi Tbilisi 61-40 including a 48-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. MIA players were unselfish on offense dishing 44 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Maccabi Tbilisi's players. Center Shota Gelazonia (205-94) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and international guard Beqa Chikviladze (195-91) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 14 assists during the contest. MIA's coach Archil Jgenti felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side center Giorgi Periashvili (210-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and center Maizer Revazashvili (202-96) scored 17 points. Five MIA and four Maccabi Tbilisi players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Maccabi Tbilisi still closes the standings with nine games lost. MIA will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Maccabi Tbilisi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Olimpi.
