Regular Season Round 2: Bejjeh - Al Riyadi 74-86

Date: February 4, 2014
The game in Bejjeh was also quite interesting. Al Riyadi (2-0) played at the court of Bejjeh (0-2). Al Riyadi defeated Bejjeh 86-74 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Al Riyadi. Bejjeh managed to win fourth quarter 28-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Al Riyadi forced 24 Bejjeh turnovers. Egyptian power forward Ahmad Ismail (205-76) notched 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and international swingman Jean Abdel Nour (198-83) supported him with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. Al Riyadi's coach Slobodan Subotic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds by American forward Jonathon Avery (201-88, college: IUPUI, agency: Gamble Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Bejjeh. The former international center Mario Abboud (204-81) added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts. Al Riyadi will meet at home Byblos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bejjeh will play against Homenetm. B (#9) in Beirut and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
