Everything could happen in Thessaloniki at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Aris and 8th ranked AGOR had identical 6-10 record. This time Aris used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Rethymno 73-67 on Wednesday night. AGOR was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Aris dominated on the defensive end, holding AGOR to just 5 points in second quarter. Ioannis Athineou (194-88) stepped up and scored 16 points for the winners and the former international forward Michalis Pelekanos (198-81) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Giannis Kalambokis (195-78) responded with 23 points and 6 rebounds and American power forward Callistus Eziukwu (208-85, college: Grand Valley St.) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. AGOR's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aris (7-10) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with KAOD and Apollon Patras. AGOR at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. Aris will face higher ranked Panionios (#3) in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AGOR will play at home against Apollon Patras (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
