There was a small surprise in Cordoba where fourth ranked Instituto Cor. (7-10) beat much higher ranked Union SF (9-8) 90-82 on Wednesday. Union SF was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 27-18 charge of Instituto Cor., which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for guard Gaston Luchino (183-82) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points. American Kenny Jones (198-84, college: Kentucky St.) helped adding 18 points. At the losing side center Alejandro Reinick (203-78) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and forward Joaquin Gamazo (195-91) scored 16 points (perfect from the field making all six shots). Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Instituto Cor. maintains fourth place with 7-10 record, which they share with Sarmiento and 9 de Julio. Newly promoted Union SF still keeps top position with eight games lost. Instituto Cor. will face Sarmiento (#4) in Chaco in the next round. Union SF will play on the road against the league's second-placed Obera TC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
