Regular Season Round 19: Kalev/Cramo - TTU 78-63
Date: February 5, 2014
The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tallinn: Kalev/Cramo (#3) and TTU (#4). Kalev/Cramo (14-1) won against visiting TTU (11-8) 78-63. The game was mostly controlled by Kalev/Cramo. TTU managed to win fourth quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kalev/Cramo made 8 blocks. 27 personal fouls committed by TTU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for U.S. Virgin Islands center Frank Elegar (208-86, college: Drexel) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Devin Gibson (180-89, college: UTSA) helped adding 14 points. At the losing side power forward Joonas Jarvelainen (202-90) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Jaan Puidet (191-92) scored 7 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains third place with 14-1 record having 2 victories less than leader TU/Rock. TTU lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Kalev/Cramo are looking forward to face Valga (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. TTU will play against Valga (#8) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
