Very expected game in Urumqi where 15th ranked Foshan (9-20) was defeated by second ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (22-7) 109-101 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 58-43 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Xinjiang Flying Tige outrebounded Foshan 46-25 including a 24-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Lester Hudson (190-84, college: Tenn-Martin, agency: Priority Sports) stepped up and scored 22 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners and forward James Singleton (203-81, college: Murray St.) chipped in 21 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Lance Thomas (203-88, college: Duke) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Hongfei Shi (180-93) scored 17 points and 6 assists. Four Xinjiang Flying Tige and five Foshan players scored in double figures. Foshan's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Xinjiang Flying Tige maintains second place with 22-7 record having four points less than leader Guangdong ST. Loser Foshan keeps the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. Xinjiang Flying Tige will meet at home Liaoning Hunters (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Foshan will play against Shanxi Zhongyu (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
