Regular Season Round 29: Qingdao E. - Guangdong ST 74-104

Leader Guandong Tigers delivered the twentieth sixth victory. This time they crushed 18th ranked Qingdao Eagles (4-25) 104-74. The game was mostly controlled by Guandong Tigers. Qingdao Eagles was better in fourth quarter 28-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Qingdao Eagles to just 7 points in first quarter. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Qingdao Eagles' 46. Guandong Tigers players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. International Jianlian Yi (212-87) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. The former international forward Peng Zhou (210-89) contributed with 22 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. American-Puerto Rican center Peter Ramos (222-85) answered with 25 points and 8 rebounds and Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Qingdao Eagles. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Guandong Tigers (26-3) have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place. Qingdao Eagles at the other side stay dead last with 25 lost games. Guandong Tigers will play against Jiangsu Dragons (#11) in Nanjing in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Qingdao Eagles will play at home against DongGuan Leopards (#4) and hope to get back on the winning track.
