Regular Season Round 29: Guangsha L. - Jiangsu D. 122-114

There was no surprise in Hangzhou where 11th ranked Jiangsu Dragons (14-15) were defeated by sixth ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (18-11) 122-114 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Jiangsu Dragons won third quarter 34-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and his fellow American import center Chris Johnson (210-85, college: LSU) chipped in 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Zhejiang Guangsha Lions' coach Fei Wang used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Yahui Liu (206-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and American forward Marcus Haislip (208-80, college: Tennessee) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Jiangsu Dragons dropped to the tenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Fujian QB. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will meet Bayi Rockets (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Jiangsu Dragons will play against the league's leader Guandong Tigers (#1) and hope to secure a win.
