Regular Season Round 16: Skallagrimur - Njardvik 84-99

No shocking result in a game in Borgarnes where fourth ranked Njardvik (11-5) defeated 11th ranked Skallagrimur (4-12) 99-84. The game was mostly controlled by Njardvik. Skallagrimur was better in fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by international point guard Elvar Fridriksson (180-94) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists and American forward Tracy Smith (203-89, college: N.Carolina St.) supported him with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Four Njardvik players scored in double figures. Even 27 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists by American point guard Benjamin Smith (178-87, college: Jacksonville) did not help to save the game for Skallagrimur. The former international swingman Pall Axel Vilbergsson (197-78) added 22 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Njardvik maintains fourth position with 11-5 record. Skallagrimur at the other side dropped to the tenth place with 12 games lost. Njardvik's next round opponent will be league's leader KR in Reykjavik and it may be the game of the week. Skallagrimur will play on the road against the league's second-placed Keflavik (#2) and hope to win that game.
