Rather expected game when 13th ranked Barese (8-12) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Chieti (10-10) 79-75 on Thursday. Chieti made 98-of-103 free shots (95.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Barese turnovers. Strangely Barese outrebounded Chieti 104-77 including a 66-48 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 43 long-distance shots on high 68.3 percentage. Chieti looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chieti made 23 blocks. Barese was plagued by 102 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was center Mattia Soloperto (208-80) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Naturalized San Marino Andrea Raschi (198-79) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Chieti players scored in double figures. Naturalized American forward Ryan Amoroso (205-85, college: San Diego St.) produced 18 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized American point guard Mike DiNunno (180-90, college: E.Kentucky) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Chieti moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Ravenna and P.Mantovana. Barese lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Chieti will face league's leader Agrigento on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Barese will play against Recanati (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
