Very predictable result when fourth ranked Paulistano (14-6) won against 13th ranked Macae (7-14) in Sao Paolo 110-93. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Paulistano made 25-of-28 charity shots (89.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 28 Macae turnovers. Macae was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for power forward Renato Carbonari (204-87) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American guard Desmond Holloway (190-90, college: Co.Carolina) helped adding 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Paulistano's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian Pablo Espinoza (200-87) responded with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Paulistano moved-up to third place, which they share with Limeira. Macae at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Paulistano will play against league's leader Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Macae will play on the road against Liga Sorocaba (#14) in Sorocabana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
