Regular Season Round 20: Azad - Zob Ahan 85-73

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tehran. Third ranked Azad faced one of their biggest challengers Zob Ahan. Host Azad (17-6) defeated guests from Esfahan (16-7) 85-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zob Ahan. Azad dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Zob Ahan's 40. Azad forced 22 Zob Ahan turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Zob Ahan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was international Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) who had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. Guard Milad Mazraeh (179-88) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Montenegrin-Serbian center Slavko Vranes (230-83, agency: Beo Basket) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and power forward Amir Abbas Mohabbat (200-83) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Zob Ahan players scored in double figures. Azad maintains third position with 17-6 record having four points less than leader Petrochimi. Newly promoted Zob Ahan keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Azad are looking forward to face Afra Fars (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zob Ahan's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Esfahan Foolad Mahan.
