No shocking result in a game when first ranked Cascades (16-4) beat 6th ranked Timberwolves (4-16) in Abbotsford 79-63 on Friday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Cascades's pressure prevailed and they won that period 18-9 extending their advantage to 16 points. Forward Sarah Wierks (188) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Courtney Bartel (175) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Cascades' coach Al Tuchscherer allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. point guard Mercedes Van Koughnett (165) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Jennifer Bruce (168) added 15 points in the effort for Timberwolves. Cascades have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-4 record, which they share with Saskatchewan. Timberwolves lost tenth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with 16 games lost. Cascades will face again Timberwolves (#7) in Prince George in the next round where they are favorite.
