Regular Season Round 1: Gaiteros - Trotamundos 93-100

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Gaiteros' (0-2) home loss to Trotamundos (2-0) 93-100 on Friday. The game without a history. Trotamundos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 63.8 percent from the field. Trotamundos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Gaiteros were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American Robert Glenn (201-89, college: IUPUI) stepped up and scored 25 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and international guard Jhornan Zamora (196-89) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. Five Trotamundos players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward LaVell Blanchard (201-81, college: Michigan) responded with 30 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Kristian Clarkson (202-84, college: Widener) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trotamundos will face Gigantes (#6) in Puerto Ordaz in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gaiteros will play on the road against Toros in Maracay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
