Regular Season Round 29: Chiba Jets - Wakayama T. 73-80

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Wakayama T. (22-9) won against on the road 6th ranked Chiba Jets (9-24) 80-73 on Friday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 42-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Wakayama T. made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game, while Chiba Jets only scored six points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) who scored 23 points and 7 assists. American power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota, agency: SportsTalent) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Four Wakayama T. players scored in double figures. American forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Chris Braswell (206-89, college: Charlotte) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Chiba Jets' coach Reggie Geary let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Wakayama T.. Newly promoted Wakayama T. maintains second place with 22-9 record having four points less than leader Aishin SH. Chiba Jets lost their third game in a row. Chiba Jets at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the sixth position with 24 games lost. Wakayama T. will face Hokkaido L. (#3) in Saporro in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Chiba Jets will play at home against Mitsubishi Dolphins and hope to win that game.
