Regular Season Round 17: Arras - Mondeville 69-76

Date: February 7, 2014
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Mondeville and 13th ranked Arras had identical 4-12 record. But Arras was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Mondeville 76-69. It looked good early as Arras took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. Then Mondeville had a 34-18 second period charge getting the lead and Arras was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-76. Strangely Arras outrebounded Mondeville 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. American forward Courtney Hurt (185-90, college: VCU) nailed 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Belgian point guard Julie Vanloo (172-93) accounted for 16 points. Mondeville's coach Romain Lhermitte allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Mali center Naignouma Coulibaly (191-89) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 17 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Pauline Krawczyk (182-85) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Arras in the defeat. Mondeville (5-12) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Angers and Toulouse. Arras lost their tenth game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Mondeville will play against league's second-placed Lattes Montpellier at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Arras will play against Nantes Reze (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
