Regular Season Round 19: M.Hainaut - Oostende 78-70

There was a change at the Ethias League leadership position after last games. Round 19 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Oostende (13-4). They were defeated by third ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (13-5) 78-70 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Oostende. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-70. Belfius Mons-Hainaut made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American point guard Talor Battle (182-88, college: Penn St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import power forward Monwell Randle (203-83, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Court Side) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Five Belfius Mons-Hainaut players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Brent Wright (203-78, college: Florida) responded with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian-Montenegrin guard Dusan Djordjevic (193-83, agency: Beo Basket) scored 3 points and 9 assists. Oostende's coach Dario Gjergja rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Belfius Mons-Hainaut have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain third place with 13-5 record behind leader Liege. Defending champion Oostende dropped to the second position with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Liege. Oostende will play next round against Antwerp Giants trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Belfius Mons-Hainaut will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Antwerp Giants on the road.
