Regular Season Round 26: Saskatchewan - Winnipeg 67-72

Date: February 7, 2014
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Huskies (16-4) against fifth ranked Wesmen (10-10) on Friday night. Host Huskies were defeated by Wesmen in a tough game in Saskatoon 67-72. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Huskies. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 21-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Guard Stephanie Kleysen (178) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Alyssa Grant (183) supported her with 18 points. Even a double-double of 14 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks by forward Dalyce Emmerson (191-93) did not help to save the game for Huskies. Guard Kelsey Trulsrud (178) added 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Huskies' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Wesmen maintains fifth position with 10-10 record, which they share with Lakehead. Loser Huskies still keep top place with four games lost. They share the position with UFV. Wesmen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Huskies will play again against Wesmen and hope to secure a win.
