Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked York (8-12) lost to second ranked Carleton (14-6) in Ottawa 50-61 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Carleton. York was better in third quarter 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to York's 20. Guard Elizabeth Roach (173) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Lindsey Suprunchuk (185) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Courtney Osborne (178) replied with 10 points and guard Nadia Qahwash (170) added 8 points in the effort for York. York's coach Bill Pangos let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Carleton keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Victoria. Loser York keeps the fifth place with 12 games lost. Carleton will face Golden Gaels (#3) in Kingston in the next round, which may be the game of the day. York will play on the road against the league's second-placed Ottawa and hope to win that game.
