Regular Season Round 26: Lakehead - Laurier 65-75

Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Thunderwolves (10-10) lost to third ranked Laurier (15-5) in Thunder Bay 65-75 on Friday. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. Guard Bree Chaput (173) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Laura Doyle (170) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Laurier players scored in double figures. American guard Jylisa Williams (173-89, college: Georgia St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds and guard Ayse Kalkan (173-91) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Thunderwolves. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Laurier moved-up to second place, which they share with Western and UBC. Loser Thunderwolves dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. Laurier will have a break next round. Thunderwolves will play again at home against the league's second-placed Laurier (#2) and hope to win that game.
