There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Marin (6-10) was edged at home by bottom-ranked Askatuak (3-13) 68-66 on Saturday. Marin was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 16-12 charge of Askatuak, which allowed them to win the game. Forward Xabier Perez (198-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 7 rebounds. Lithuanian point guard Robertas Bitinas (182-84) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward Joseba Aramburu (205-81) answered with 24 points and 6 rebounds and forward Jose Fernandez (202-75) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Marin. Marin's coach Javier Llorente rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Askatuak maintains thirteenth place with 3-13 record. Marin lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Askatuak will face higher ranked Zornotza (#10) in Amorebieta-Echano in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
